Truth

def: (1) “truth” (lowercase “t”) - “What is” within the context of my story:

  • The facts as they play out within a narrative - the way a movie or novel or video game has facts that I recognize are made up and exist only to serve the made-up narrative. I “play along” with this level of “truth” in order to participate in the story. The only reason to participate in a made-up story is to enjoy the story, to let myself be taken along for the ride.

  • And because it’s completely made up, I have choices about this level of truth: I change my story and its truth changes right along with it - just like when I put down one novel and pick up another.

  • As far as my story goes, I no longer believe in the truth of a stressful narrative. What’s true is peaceful and what’s peaceful is true. I can’t find a stress-free reason to see it any other way.

def: (2) “Truth” (capital “T”) - “What isprior to my story

  • “What actually is,” independent of any thought I have about it.

  • Whenever I am able to completely shed my story and have no thoughts whatsoever, all that’s left is eternal peace.

  • Which, to me, means the Truth (capital T) is eternally peaceful.

  • So whenever I am not fully at peace, I am not experiencing the (capital T) Truth.
