Only selfishness can see selfishness. In reality there is no such thing. There are only people doing what they must, based on what they’re thinking and believing.
For me to see someone as selfish requires the belief that someone should give me what I want (or give others what I want them to give)…I have to believe that other people’s things, resources, energy, attention, acceptance, kindness, love should go where I want them to go.
Selfish.
(...but only when I’m believing in selfishness).
In reality, it’s just confusion about the role of a want in an eternally benevolent universe. It’s just confusion born of what I’m thinking and believing. And I can work to clear that up. When I do, I notice I never need anyone else’s stuff to go anywhere but where it’s going. I am free to ask lovingly for what I want and wait for either the gift of receiving it or the gift of not receiving it (that’s right: they’re both gifts).
The truth is, I always have what I need.
How do I know?
I have it.
How do I know I don’t need something, or better yet, that I need to NOT have it?
I don’t have it.

I can ask for anything I want, or not, and the universe will always give me exactly what I need.
To understand this is to experience the limitless generosity of a benevolent universe
