When I’m concerned about someone…
if they appear to be living dangerously,
or their drinking appears to be out of control,
or they appear to be neglecting their responsibilities,
or subject to bad influences
or prisoner to delusions or mental illness,
…the only thing they need from me…
is love.
Unconditional love. Love for exactly what they are right now in this moment, with no improvement necessary.
Until I can love them just as they are, for no other reason than my own desire to experience my own loving true nature, I’m not going to be much help to them.
Because if I’m not loving them just as they are, I am the one who needs help: I’m not seeing them clearly. So I have my work cut out for me.
My job is to love.
Then “help” will follow effortlessly. In fact, it will already be there.
Because in the end, the only “help” anyone ever really needs…
IS love.
