It’s so much easier to love others when I don’t judge myself.

My father-in-law called me this morning at 11am and when I didn’t answer, he left a message joking that I was probably still asleep.

Which was true. He knows me well.

An hour later, I woke up refreshed and called him back from bed. When he answered, he asked in a bombastic voice, “Are you still in bed?!!”

I said, “Hey, man, you don’t want to rush these things.”

And we had a big belly laugh.

And then we made plans for a movie night.

I love my father-in-law so much when I don’t judge myself harshly. He’s so kind and caring and so much fun.

And he really knows me.
